keeping busy during the arctic vortex

We love the forced time home because of the snow storm and arctic vortex.  We are using this time wisely to work on our Bags. If you follow us on Instagram you can see some of the things we are working on while we sit by the fire, and see some snow shots.
Any bags you see that you want let us know right away and we will make it available to you for a donation.
Working toward the goal we now have 30 ready to be given to Breast Cancer survivors.
We are still looking for sewers to help us. Now more than ever we need a new sewing machine. The two we have are both acting up. One machine has something wrong with it that we can’t fix I know this because Jessie had the machine apart and worked on it for hours yesterday.   When we can get out off to the shop it goes.
The other sewing machine will not make a zigzag stitch anymore, the main thing we were using to make the bags.
Know anybody who wants to donate a sewing machine?
…..Oh well we will work on sorting fabrics and pinning pieces together. At least till I run out of pins…
Anybody out there sewing for us can u bring back the pins please!!!!

We are trying to keep busy during the arctic vortex.

my unique perspective

Unique bags … my unique perspective.
This blog started as a way to tell folks about what was happening with the bags. I think now it’s a way to say what I feel about the whole process of Breast Cancer, aging, fears and frustrations.
Jessie and I talked the other day about the aging parent and the only child. I see her being afraid something will happen to me and she won’t have anyone to take care of her.
I see me afraid that as only one person I won’t be able to take care of her.
Then I remember I have help and I pray.
Then I read the scripture in Isaiah 41:10 “Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be anxious, for I am your god. I will fortify you, yes I will help you, I will really hold on to you with my right hand of righteousness.”
There are two good articles on www.jw.org ….under publications,
 Watchtower (study addition) March 2014
Honor the Aged Among You
Providing Care for the Elderly
It reminds me to pore out my heart to Jehovah. He can give me the peace of mind to deal with any situation Philippians 4: 6-7
With Jehovah’s help I know I will be able to take care of her.

I have to read this article again….

survivor empathy

One of the things that happen when you meet another survivor is the instant bond.
Someone else understands your stress.
Someone else knows your frustration…
Someone else understands your fears…
Someone else knows the feeling of helplessness and of the treatment making me sicker…
You see it in their eyes...its Empathy your pain in my heart…

We met so many nice folks over the weekend at the Booths Corner Farmers Market fundraiser event. We didn't get a lot of funds but we got a lot of hugs. The connection was there for us other survivors talked to Jessie she told a little of her story we gave them bags and they gave us smiles…. all in all it was a good weekend… This is our therapy…..our treatment….

A reason to get up

We have started our 2014 project of 100 bags a month.

This January is beginning very differently from last January. This time last year Jessie was having her mastectomy. She survived / we survived!!!!!!

I think making bags for other survivors gives us a positive to focus on.

We are not sitting around waiting the for all the  bad stuff  in life to happen.

Everyday Jessie is at the machine sewing. It’s a reason to get up in the morning and start to work.

Check out the new bags we just finished on Instagram.

We will take pictures as they are completed. Most of the bags will be for the Breast Cancer survivors but if you see one you want let us know. You can make a donation with your pay pal account at Jessiesbags.com and you can get it hot off the sewing machine! This will help fund the supplies we need to purchase for the 100 bags a month project.

Our family at Jessie’s Bags is rejoicing that we had so much support and we want to thank everyone who supported us during 2013.
WE are especially thankful for Jessie and the bag idea in the first place, and DeNika for carrying the save a lot bag LOL.
