a person’s spirit can sustain him through illness

We didn't make many bags this week. We had to shift our focus.

We spent this week relocating Jessie’s older sister from one nursing home to another. During This experience I remembered a bible verse at Proverbs 18:14   “a person’s spirit can sustain him through illness, but who can bear a crushed spirit.”

This 85 year old widow woman has always maintained a positive outlook and spirit. Last week the staff at the nursing home where she lived for the past 4 years almost succeeded in breaking her spirit. I believe they were trying to make their job easier and cover their corporate but, so we would not sue them. They were trying to sell me on the idea that she needed more help physically and they were attempting to keep her safe. I saw what this change was doing to her mentally. She was in tears every day last week. She said I know why people want to die. Never before has she wanted to die. When we saw these things happening we began to pray. We asked Jehovah to help us make right decisions, and see clearly if her health had indeed changed or if something else was happening here. For the last 4 years we have been an active part of her care plan and this facility and staff had taken excellent care of her. We visit the nursing home every few days. There had been no notice of a change in her health as far as we could see nor had the nursing home reported any change to us.  We received an answer to our prayers when we went in to see her and someone from the physical therapy department was there to evaluate her. I requested to watch this evaluation I was told no and the door was shut in my face. That was it. I no longer trust you if I can’t see what you are looking at or watch what you are doing in her behalf I am her power of attorney for medical and personal things I should not have been excluded.
I believe you have the right to self-determination where your health is concerned. You can choose what medical treatment you receive and what things are done to you and for you. Just because you live in a facility does not mean you have no rights. You have the right to make changes also.

WE located another nursing home closer to where we live and a place she had spent some time before for rehab. Again we saw that prayer works. We prayed if this was the right move help it go smoothly and not be a stressful event for this 85 year old. Prayer works! Tuesday morning at 11:30 the door was shut in my face by physical therapy Wednesday at 1:00 we were leaving the place she lived for 4 years to move into a new location.

Her smile is back. Her spirit to survive is strong. Proverbs 18:14   “a person’s spirit can sustain him through illness, but who can bear a crushed spirit.” Jehovah through prayer has been sustaining all of us through this experience. Proverbs 18: 10 the name of Jehovah is a strong tower. Into it the righteous one runs and receives protection. Thanks to Jehovah for the help and protection.

Next week we will sew bags.

We are excited to be working with the students at SLC.  Jessie’s bags ask for their help collecting jeans for a jeans bag project.
They are going to collect 100 pairs of jeans for us by April 15th. These we will turn into Jessie’s bags.
The group enthusiastically immediately started to work on some of the fabrics we brought which needed to be processed. They also had some good suggestions for future projects. We appreciate them helping Jessie’s bags as a part of their service to the community.

If you have a group and would like to volunteer a few hours or days to help Jessie’s bags please contact us www.jessiesbags.com. Look for updates on the jean bag project.. Instagram #jessiesbags

Simply Organized

As Jessie’s bags has started to grow. We found ourselves overwhelmed with the fabric and task of creating bags. When we received our last fabric supply we knew we needed help. The space was beginning to feel like a hoarder lived here... So an organized or interior designer became a necessity. We really had no idea how to set up the work area.
We had fabric everywhere in the family living room, the front entrance and it spilled over into the Game room area and was working every day on the pool table. Let’s just say some of the members of this household were not happy with that. Not sure how to get the space functioning in the best way we knew we needed help. We reached out to about 10 companies and students at a design schools hoping for volunteer help. Looking locally at names on the National association of professional organizers we sent out emails. We were asking for Volunteers for this project.
Within an hour of sending the email Karen Jessee of Simply Organized responded.  She called and we discussed what we needed and Two hours later she stopped in to see the space. We set an appointment for a few days later and Yesterday she  and 2 other volunteers spent 3 hours DE cluttering, organizing, redesigning and creating better systems for storing sorting and working on Jessie’s bags. From 10 am to 1 pm. We now have shelving we have supplies close to our creative work area. We have a system and a large usable work area. When volunteers come to help they will  have room to work all in the same room.

Jessie's Bags been simply organized and this has been one of the best things that has ever happened to us.

we did not keep any before pictures, we don't ever want to see that space again. But we do have after shots.

THE TRANSFORMATION IS AMAZING check Instagram to see pictures of the finished project #jessiesbags
